Skunks are rare in our area, although we have two types occasionally found in Volusia county. The most prevalent is actually the spotted skunk, seen at the left. The striped is the "Pepe LePew" type that is probably more familiar with most people, but is rarely seen in this area. We get very few in for rehabilitation, but are a pleasure to raise and care for. While we do not advocate the keeping of any wild animal as a pet, there is a rescue group that takes and adopts out domesticated skunks that we recommend if you would ever be interested in one as a pet. They are Florida Skunk Rescue and they also rehab native Florida wildlife.
