Types of wildlife we have in the Daytona Beach Area (mammal species):

Armadillo

Grey Fox

Red Fox

Bobcat

River Otter

Cottontail Rabbit

Marsh Rabbit

Coyote

Black Bear

Florida Panther (rarely seen this far north)

Bats: Evening bat, Mexican Freetail, Eastern Red Bat, Seminole bat, Northern Yellow Bat, Eastern Pipistrelle, little brown bat, big brown bat, southeastern myotis, and a few other species only rarely seen.  

Moles, rats and rarely mice are also found in the area. Mice are the only ones native to the area.

Other species that are not native to our area may occasionally be found here having been released by negligent "pet" owners or wildlife exhibitors. They include: jaguarundi, groundhog, iguanas, monitors, spider monkeys, etc.
